Neighborhoods Every Tree-Lover Needs to Consider Before Buying in DFW

Here's something nobody puts on their home wishlist but everyone notices when it's missing: good trees.

Trees change how a neighborhood feels. They make morning walks more pleasant. They give a sense of permanence and rootedness that new construction just... doesn't have because it takes decades for them to establish.

And in DFW, summer temps stay in the triple digit range and having those incredible tree-lined streets can provide a completely different experience. We call that quality of life.

DFW Neighborhoods with the Best Tree-Lined Streets

Crestwood — Fort Worth

Crestwood is Fort Worth's crown jewel when it comes to canopy. The winding streets are lined with mature oaks that have been growing for decades — some of them long enough that Fort Worth's Heritage Tree Program officially tracks them. This is the neighborhood where people slow their car down just driving through. It feels like people have been living here long enough to have actual opinions about things, and they probably do.

What you're getting:

  • Mature oaks — including heritage trees that Fort Worth has officially designated for protection

  • Streets that feel like tunnels of green in summer

  • Homes with history and character, largely built out with infill construction as the next chapter

Typical price range: $500k -$1M+ // Click here to see what’s currently on the market in Crestwood.

Tanglewood — Fort Worth

Tanglewood sits southwest of downtown Fort Worth near the Trinity River. The lowland terrain creates the kind of lush greenery that's harder to find on the drier upland areas of Tarrant County. Streets feel spacious, and the schools have strong ratings. It’s a popular choice for Buyers wanting convenience without giving up a residential feel.

What you're getting:

  • Mature trees and lush greenery tucked into the lowlands along the Trinity River

  • A mix of bungalows, ranch homes, two-stories, and extended capes

  • Homes built primarily in the 1950s–70s with significant updates throughout

Typical price range: $800-$1M+ // Click here to see homes currently on the market in Tanglewood.

Southridge — Denton

One of my Denton favorites! Southridge is south of historic downtown, quiet in the best way, and heavily treed in a way that feels almost surprising for a neighborhood this central to the city. The winding streets and varied architecture mean there's no cookie-cutter anything here. You'll find yourself on a half-acre or more of wooded lot, with the kind of privacy that takes decades to grow.

What you're getting:

  • Mature trees throughout, with some lots running nearly 2 acres of tree-covered land

  • Winding streets with no two houses looking the same — 1970s ranch homes to modern custom estates

  • A quiet, settled feel with easy access to South Lakes Park and I-35E

  • The kind of neighborhood where people don't leave once they move in (AKA not a lot of turnover)

Typical price range: $400k - $600k // Click here to see homes currently on the market in Southridge.

Canyon Creek — Richardson

As someone who grew up in Richardson, Canyon Creek is a neighborhood I have been drooling over my entire life. The creek and trail system add a layer of nature access that most DFW suburbs just don't have. It feels more like a wooded retreat than a suburb, which is exactly the point. This is another that once people move in, they tend not to leave.

What you're getting:

  • A literal creek running through the neighborhood, bordered by trails, bridges, and stone waterfalls

  • Canyon Creek Country Club and golf course at the heart of it all

  • Access to both Plano ISD and Richardson ISD — both highly rated

Typical price range: $625k-$2M // Click here to see homes currently available in Canyon Creek.
