Create a Main Character Kitchen — Even If You Only Cook Pasta

You don’t have to be a domestic goddess to deserve a * dreamy kitchen *. Dreamy isn’t just about looks, and this space isn’t only about food. In fact, it’s one of the bookends of your home. Your place to romanticize toast. To FaceTime your mom while stirring store-bought sauce. To set your Olivia Pope sized wine glass down and scroll TikTok as the air-fryer does it’s best work.

Even if your signature dish is cereal, your kitchen still deserves to feel like a main character moment. Whether you’re a microwave meal maven or a part-time sourdough snob, your kitchen should spark joy — even if it’s not the dream kitchen you drool over on instagram.

Here’s how to give your kitchen some main character energy:

1. Get Rid of the Unnecessary Clutter

AKA Chaos. Here’s the thing — you don’t need 4 sets of the same pan or every gadget you see on TikTok. Clutter makes us crazy, yet we think all the things bring us joy.

Get rid of what you don’t use, and set yourself up for success. Start with one cabinet or drawer at a time rather than biting off more than you can chew.

2. Show Off Your Personality

There are a bajillion ways to do this in your kitchen:

  • Glassware & tableware. The easiest place to trickle in your personality is through the items you use daily. Rather than going trendy - buy the things you love naturally.

  • Small luxuries — flowers in a thrifted vase, a favorite coffee mug, a tiny lamp in the corner, the Geometry hand towels hanging on a hook.

3. Highlight the Hero Spot

Shift the focus to spaces that do the heavy lifting in daily life.

  • The Command Center – A drop zone, built-in desk, or that one drawer that keeps your chaos in check.

  • The Morning Anchor – Where your coffee routine lives. Whether it’s a corner cabinet, a pull-out tray, or your espresso shrine.

  • The “Everything” Island – Where meals happen, homework spreads out, and wine is poured. (Even if it’s also where the mail piles up.)

Main character energy starts here — even if you're just reheating last night’s takeout.

Torn Between Renovating or Starting Fresh?

If you're staring at your cabinets wondering if a coat of paint and some new hardware will actually do the trick — you're not alone. It's one of the most common crossroads my clients face. Should you invest in updates or look for a home that already checks your boxes?

Let’s talk it out. I can help you weigh the costs, timeline, ROI, and overall vibe shift to figure out what really makes the most sense for your next season of life.
